When will the running backs break loose?
Washaun Ealey and Caleb King were running strong at the end of last season, evidenced by a combined 349 yards against Georgia Tech, and Georgia expected them to pick up where they left off. But they are yet to play in the same game, Ealey missing the opener (suspension) and King the past two games (sprained ankle). Neither has had a 100-yard game this season. Both are expected to play Saturday at Mississippi State. “I’m excited to be back out there and see what we both can bring to the table,” King said. “I’m going to try to hype [Ealey] up, and he’s going to try to hype me up, too.” Running backs coach Bryan McClendon thinks each back is better in tandem with the other, in part because both stay fresh and thrive on the competition. While Richt looks for the run blocking to improve, he also says the tailbacks need to get more yards from their own effort. “If you watch around the country, you see backs breaking tackles, you see backs getting yards after contact,” he said. 4.
