The word “Parol” means an utterance that is oral or a word. Parol in this sense can refer to something that is done or given orally or by way of mouth. The word is also used in a legal sense to refer to a declaration that is oral and also to a writing which is not under seal. In legal matters a Parol arrest refers to an arrest having being without the presence of any warrant and carried out as such solely on the directions of a magistrate. In Commercial Law any contract that is not recorded and which is not under seal is referred to as a parol contract. The word “Parol” comes from the Middle English word “parole” taken from the Anglo-Norman and derived from the Vulgar Latin word “paraula”.
