Do cats have long term memory?

0

I have a story for you. Years ago I had two cats who were inseparable. One of them, a female, used to crawl up an opening in the basement under the stairs and just sit at the top for a couple of hours. The male used to wait at the bottom, meowing for her to come down. For some reason he never followed her but refused to leave that area until she returned to him. She died young of a congenital kidney disease at the age of 5. At this time the male was 6. The male never forgot her. Two weeks before he died at the age of 17, I heard him meowing downstairs, and went downstairs to investigate. He was sitting at the bottom of this opening just like he used to do so many years ago, gazing up just as he used to do. He sat there all day until I picked him up and brought him upstairs, closing the door behind me. I also cried a lot that day. Elephants have NOTHING on cats when it comes to memory.

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
