Whats the History of WoCC?
In January 2009, Greg Douglas–WoCC Pastor–presented a proposal to the Executive Director of the Reuter Family YMCA outlining the plan for a new church start within the YMCA. This proposal was accepted by the YMCA and over the next six months formal agreements were struck and WoCC began integrating into Reuter Family; serving, blessing and loving the staff and members in the name of Jesus. Lighthouse Church of Mount Pleasant, SC–the church Greg Douglas was pastoring at prior to leaving to start WoCC–was integral in getting WoCC up and running. In addition to a significant financial gift, Lighthouse agreed to provide eldership over WoCC for a minimum of two years; giving WoCC time to develop elders from within the newly forming body. In October 2009, a missionary couple from Lighthouse Church relocated to Asheville in response to God’s call to help Greg and his family and to be a part of WoCC’s formation and birth.
