Has anyone heard of 8 track stereo?

Yes. In the ’70’s we had 8 track cassette players. There were players for your car and table top. The cassettes were about 4×6″ and the music was recorded on tape that was wound onto two spools inside the case. You pushed the case into the player and press play, and depending on how good your speakers were, you could have some pretty good sounds. A few years later they came up with the 4 track player. Then you had to go out and buy all new cassettes or you could have your 8 tracks re-recorded onto 4 track tapes. Those were the good old days. If was so much better than records. Records players for cars were so expensive and you couldn’t play it while you were driving. The records would skip and get scratched.
