Is Dark Alessa a Demon?
While some viewers leave the film with that impression, the answer, according to director Christophe Gans, is that she is a doppelganger (“a ghostly double or counterpart of a living person”) of Alessa herself: “If we want to explain what happened with Alessa, we are dealing with the theme of doppelgangers.
