Why clip the bird wing?
To clip a bird is a way of preventing it from long sustainable flight.When clipping a birds wings you don’t actually clip both wings.You only clip one wing and then only the end third and only a couple of inches of flight feather are clipped off.What this does.—it causes the bird to become off balance and unable to sustain flight for extended periods which forces the bird to land.The bird will still be able to fly short distances like around the house.But if the bird escaped out the door it wouldn’t make it very far.Which makes it possible to be gathered up and brought back in.It isn’t cruel to clip a bird.In fact quite the opposite.It is the best means to insure captive domestic birds do not escape into the wilds.Because pet birds are dependent upon their owner or human counter part for their basic needs.Many would die if left to their own means in the wild.Not because they cannot feed them self but rather have no idea where to obtain the foods they need.As well the possible impact
