How Do You Survive A Long Walk (For Kids)?
• Find something comfy to wear. • A warm sweatshirt will do if you are in in a mild environment, even if it’s cold, as you soon warm up and you want to be able to move around well. However, if you are in a colder environment, then you must remember to keep warm with a thick coat. • Some comfy trousers are essential. If you are going to stay fairly warm and dry, wear stretchy jeans. If you are going to get wet, this is a definite no-no. They will weigh too much, making walking harder. Wear some waterproof ones, if you are hiking in a wet environment. • Don’t wear cheap walking boots if it’s just a fairly easy walk. They are hot and are likely to give you blisters. Trainers are good. • Take a rucksack which is comfy and doesn’t rub. In it you should pack: • Water. Take the equivalent of a gallon per day. • Food. Take more than you need, in case you get lost. • Take regular breaks. Don’t forget to look at the scenery!
