What are Supporters Trusts?
A Supporters’ Trust is an independent, democratic organisation that seeks to acquire a stake in a football club. Supporters’ Trusts pursue a stake in the football club to increase transparency and communication, build connections between the local community and the football club and allow fans a greater say in the running of their club. A key aim of any Trust is to increase participation and volunteerism within the community and amongst football club supporters. Trusts are registered as an Industrial and Provident Society (IPS). More information on IPS status can be found on the Supporters’ Direct website.
