Who is affected by AMS?
Anyone can be affected. If you have had altitude sickness once you are likely to have it again. Generally persons traveling from sea level locations are more affected. Even the most physically fit persons can be affected. Persons with cardiac conditions, respiratory disease or illness should consult their physician before high altitude travel since these conditions may predispose them to AMS.
