Who can be covered under COBRA?
Individuals who are eligible to be covered under COBRA are called “qualified beneficiaries”. Qualified Beneficiaries (QBs) include the employee covered under the group health plan as of the date of the “qualifying event”, the employee’s covered spouse, and covered dependent children. Each QB who elects continuation coverage will have the same rights under the group health plan as other participants or beneficiaries covered the plan, including special enrollment rights.
