Has New Orleans recovered now?

There has been really a lot of progress in the 5 years since Katrina devastated SE Louisiana and southern Mississippi (New Orleans wasn’t the only place hit, and Katrina wrecked an area larger than Great Britain). Your question is about New Orleans, and most of the metro area now looks like Katrina never happened. The worst-flooded neighborhoods are still recovering and some never will (not always a bad thing). To use another Great Britain analogy, German bombs & rockets destroyed 200,000 buildings in London during 1939-1945 (Source: Imperial War Museum). There was still visible WWII bomb/rocket damage in GB until the 1980s. Katrina destroyed 225,000 buildings in a morning. Of course, the deaths from Katrina were far less than in WWII London.

New Orleans, obviously, isn’t 100 percent recovered. However, if you drive around much of the city you will see barely ANY remnants of Hurricane Katrina. I sometimes completely forget that Katrina happened.
