Jones went deep twice on Monday, and that will likely send a bunch of people scurrying to the waiver-wire to add the former 50-homer slugger. Should you join the stampede? As recently as 2006 Jones went deep 41 times, heck he had 26 dingers in 2007, but he suddenly lost his bearings at the dish and hit an anemic .158 over 209 at-bats in 2008. He did rebound somewhat last season, if you can call .214 a rebound, though he did go deep 17 times with 43 RBI in 281 at-bats for the Rangers. Could a guy who isn’t 33 until later this month actually just lose “it” and disappear as a player of note virtually overnight? This season Jones finds himself as part of the White Sox, a club that plays in a wonderful park that has been the second best yard in the AL to go deep in the past three years according to Park Indices.
