Why is my 2004 Student-Faculty Interaction (SFI) score on the Benchmark Recalculation Report different from the one in my 2004 Benchmark Report?
The variable “Work on a research project with a faculty member outside of course or program requirements” (RESEARCH) was removed from the calculation of the SFI score on the Benchmark Recalculation Report to make it comparable with previous years. In 2004 RESEARCH along with several other Enriching Education Experience items were rescaled. For information on this, refer to Question 1b. For multi-year comparisons against national and Carnegie comparison groups, we created a special page of deciles and statistics for the version of SFI that is reported on the Benchmark Recalculation Report (i.e., without RESEARCH).
