What is the Oral Exam?
A student meets with a committee of graduate faculty for approximately one hour. During that time the student verbally addresses faculty questions covering the same content areas addressed in the written exams. The Ed. D. student and 5 professors, including one faculty member from outside the immediate University department, participate in this exam. The designated Department exam coordinator will organize and convene the oral exam. If a student passes the written component but fails the oral, the examining committee determines whether the student may retake oral exams after a 90 day waiting period.
