What is NC HIPP?
NC HIPP (pronounced as N-C-HIP) is a program that is sponsored by North Carolina’s Division of Medical Assistance. NC HIPP is an acronym that stands for North Carolina Health Insurance Premium Payment. This program provides payment reimbursements to Medicaid families for the cost of their employer- sponsored insurance (ESI). ESI may be available through an employer or a COBRA plan. NC HIPP provides the opportunity for Medicaid recipients to have both Medicaid benefits and commercial health insurance, at no cost.
