You cannot prevent pain in this instance, only hope to reduce it. Your hair will grow back in cycles so as long as you keep epilating, you will only be doing a few hairs at a time. Leave it too long and there will be more hairs to pull out so more pain. Exfoliation is very important. Try to do it every other day. By doing this you get rid of the outer layer of dead skin cells that can trap new growth causing ingrown hair. I do not use pots or tubes of body scrub for this because that could get expensive. Instead I use exfoliating mitts with whatever soap or wash gel I have at the time. The first time I epilated I did not exfoliate and before too long I looked like I had the chicken pox. Now reaching for those mitts are like second nature, I do my whole body and my boyfriend always complements my soft and smooth skin.
