Where Are The Tarsal Bones Found?
In tetrapods, the tarsi basically are a group of bones found in the foot between the tibia and fibula and the metatarsus. The bones of the tarsus do not part of individual toes, while those of the metatarsus do. The joint amid the tibia and fibula and the tarsus is known as the ankle. In a number of domestic animals the tarsus is also known as the hock. Many long-footed tetrapods have a stretched out metatarsus. The tarsier instead has a stretched out tarsus, thus it gets the name. Among insects, the tarsi are the small sections which emerge in sequence after the tibia. It is the portion which functions as the foot. The seven tarsal bones are known as the talus bone, the calcaneus bone, the three cuneiform bones, the cuboid bones and the navicular bone.
