Cichlid Got Cold, Got Ich?
I have one Jewel Cichlid that’s been doing great for the last 8 years. On a routine filter change, I unplugged the filtration system to stop the water flow and inadvertently knocked out the heater. Unknowingly, I left the tank like this for approximately 2 days. During this time, I noticed my fish wasn’t reacting to anything and was very slow to move around. At first I thought it was because he was getting old, then after checking the tank, realized the water was cold. I replaced 2 or 3 gallons of water (I have a fifteen gallon tank) with warm water just to get some heat in there, and plugged in the heater. The water temp is back to normal, but my cichlid isn’t. He sits at the bottom of the tank and doesn’t move. When I try to feed him sometimes it looks as though he’s trying to swim up to get the food but moves spastically and returns to the bottom of the tank. I’ve read some of the other questions posted trying to find out what’s wrong and if there’s anything I can do, but I can’t te
