Why Do People Get Gout Attack?
Gout normally occurs when excess uric acid is formed in the body. When too much uric acid is formed, it will form into sharp crystals which get deposited in the body’s joints like toes, fingers, ankles etc. The crystals formed due to uric acid may lead to inflammation, heat and pain in the joint areas. People with long term gout condition, may get frequent gout attacks which may typically last up to 24 hours or so. Sometimes, eating wrong foods may lead to a gout attack. In order to prevent gout attacks, people should avoid certain food types. One of the primary symptoms of gout is severe pain in the affected joint region. People describe this pain as ‘crushing’. Chills, fever and loss of appetite may accompany a gout attack. If the gout symptoms occur in just one joint then it is known as ‘monoarticular gout’.
