How secure is My eCare?
We take great care to make sure your health information is kept private and safe. Access to information is controlled through secure access control codes, personal usernames and passwords. You control your own password and the access to your account. All communication between a user’s computer and our web servers is encrypted (128-bit) using security methods called secure sockets layer (SSL) in the browser software. Encryption protects information from being understood even if it has been intercepted, and is used widely for many transactions such as purchases, banking services, and credit card information. Nothing is risk-free, and no confidentiality protections are absolute. Despite strong access control and accountability strategies, health information is vulnerable to unauthorized use, either accidentally or deliberately. We will do everything in our power to protect your health information, and request the same of you.
