Are jobs good for teenagers?
On One Hand: Jobs = ResponsibilityA job can present an opportunity to expose teenagers to the responsibility of adulthood, while allowing them to earn money to spend on entertainment, car insurance and cell phone service and also to start saving. All of these factors can serve to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment in a teen.On the Other: What About School and Family?Working too many hours may have a negative impact on a teen’s school performance. A job may take teens’ time away from their families as well, since there is less free time to split between school, family and social activities.Bottom LineJobs are good for teenagers in terms of the financial and self-esteem benefits that can be gained, but teens may later regret entering the work force at such a young age.
