What Is WPA Wireless Security?
WPA is an acronym for Wi-Fi Protected Access, which is a set of standards that complies with the Wi-Fi Alliance’s definition of secure wireless networks. WPA is a descendant of WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), and it protects networks by incorporating a set of sophisticated security features. WPA-protected networks require users to enter a passkey in order to access a wireless network. WPA2 is the successor to WPA, although WPA devices are still in everyday use. In order for a device to incorporate WPA, it must be certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
