What is Party on the Plaza?
Party on the Plaza (PoP) is a campus-wide “party” of student involvement and fun held annually early in the semester. The PoP is one of the largest campus wide events held in the fall semester. In 2010, the event drew nearly 20,000 students and included a student organization fair, scholarship shootout, carnival games and mini-putt challenge. The Division of Recreational Sports sponsors the event on the Gregory Gym Plaza and Speedway Mall. Past co-sponsors have included Texas Student Media, Student Government, Office of the Dean of Students, Campus Master Plan Committee and the Texas Union. All proceeds from the event benefit UT Student Emergency Fund, a fund developed through the Dean of Students Office to support UT students in times of crisis or need.
