Is Ramayana a Myth or a reality?

0

It was a real story of a Prince but with loads of myth added to make it what it is. I have seen two versions of Adi Sankara’, two movies. One is authentic and close to reality. The other is a ‘legendary’. In the first, when Adi Sankara was attacke in the forest by the rival sect, ‘Kaapaalikas’ a lion pounces upon one of them and all run away with the lion chasing leaving Sankara alone. The same sequence in the ‘legendary’ version is that the God, Narasimha (Lion-man) attacks them to rescue Sankara. In the ancient times every story becomes a legend. Those were the days of ‘miracles’ the veracity of which can not be established.

Some things may be exaggerated in Ramayana but still it has historical importance. There are evidences to prove its had happened.During ancient times the scholars were truthful and righteous (no doubts about it).The great kings since the ancient times like Ikshvaku of Solar dynasty or Nahusha of lunar dynasties were renowned for their courage and glory in all the 4 directions of the world and were greatly important.Hence a thorough historical account of these kings used to be recorded by the scholars in historical texts called Maha Puran. For instance Lord Rama was 67th king of Ekshvaku lineage and his important achievments were recorded by scholars and in this way this Puranas were updated time to time by the scholars of respective periods. Its accepted there may be few unintended exaggerations about the achievments of these kings like fllying charoits, flying monkeys .But undoubtedly these kings were part of ancient Indian history. There were total of 124 kings of solar dynasty of Kosala
