Advice on tipping in France?
Tipping in France is different from many countries. Rather than the obligatory 15% – 20%, a tip is a gesture of thanks for good service. For example, If you order a drink, leave a small amount of change on the table, around 30c per drink Taxis: generally tip them 10% For a simple meal for two, leave a few euros For a great meal, leave 5 to 10 Hairdressers: a 10% tip is acceptable to the hairdresser and a few euros to the person who shampoos your hair. For a weekly clean of your apartment a tip of 5 to 20 is a nice thank you gesture.
