The first rubber pneumatic tire was developed for a tricycle of all things in 1887. John Dunlop was the first to do so. Charles Goodyear developed the process to cure rubber tires and Robert Thomson developed the pneumatic process but it went nowhere until Dunlop combined the two processes to create the rubber tire.
