Should I choose av cable or hdmi?
I have both Belkin Pure AV red/green/blue component video cables and HDMI cables. I like the component for HD cable boxes as they carry 1080i, and that’s as high as broadcast signals go, so no lost resolution and fewer handshake problems with channel changes. For Blu Ray and game systems, HDMI is better as they send 1080p signals, and HDMI is best with 1080p. You can buy either HDMI or component cables for under $20. There is a slight difference in the pic you will get between the two. Check them both and choose what you like best. But remember, you have to adjust settings for each input on your tv, component and HDMI separately as each cable will require slightly different settings.
ok heres the dealio AV cables are made to transfer very low amounts of information, they are just for standard definition HDMI cables are made to transfer MASS amounts of information at once to project the best HD picture possible. not only do they transfer HD video but they also transfer HD audio in the same cord… theres 3 different types of HDMI cables (that i know about) for the best quality HDMI cable got to best buy or somewhere and ask for a “10 gigabyte transfer HDMI cable” thats the highest quality HDMI. now the problem with HDMI cables is there really expensive, the cheapest 10 GB HDMI cable at best buy is a Roacketfish one for like 60 bucks. If you know someone who works there, talk them into buying it for you at employee price they get em for around 6 bucks. and incase you didnt know HDMI cables only work with HDTV’s but there is an unbelieveable difference.
I have not seen a significant difference between HDMI and component cables and I use both. From the cable box to the set, component cables are fine because the cable company doesn’t send you 1080 signals anyhow. If you want your DVD player to upconvert regular DVD’s for you, then you need to use an HDMI cable. I just let my TV set do the upconverting. As far as I know, all HD televisions will upconvert because they all show the signal in their native format anyhow. If you have a blu-ray player (or PS3), then you want to use HDMI to get the full effect of 1080i (and those are the only sources of 1080i). HDMI cables are neater and easier to use and easier to conceal. So there is that, plus they also carry the audio to your TV set without needing audio cables as you do with component cables. Just for ease of use and ease of concealment, I would pick HDMI. Now to the price. There is an on line source that everyone uses that offers great prices on HDMI cable. Never buy them from a retail st
I would go with the HDMI cable rather than the AV cable. Check out the selection of HDMI cables here, http://www.trianglecables.com/hdmi-to-hd… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered cables for a home theater unit and computer from them. I was always satisfied with the quality and the prices are phenomenal!
