Is child birth trauma avoidable?
Most of the time with proper prenatal medical planning and a highly trained staff, pediatric injury can be circumvented. In the United States, an average of six to eight significant birth injuries occur per 1,000 live births which contribute to fewer than two percent of neonatal deaths and stillbirths. Common birth injuries include caput succedaneum, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, bruising, and cephalohematoma.
