Does rubbing alcohol help dry up chest acne?
Rubbing alcohol may help acne slightly by drying the oils in the skin and killing the germs that contribute to acne, however there are much better products available. Acne is primarily a hormonal problem which is why it is worst at puberty. It can be treated by topical antibacterials, systemic antibiotcs, certain oral contraceptives for women, Retionic Acid, Accutane (for most severe cases, it dries up the oil glands in the skin), and many others, sometimes used in combination. There is also some benefit to using a tanning bed (if not on meds that prohibit this), this also works by drying the skin, of course there is the long term risk of skin cancer. It has nothing to do with diet, chocolate intake, sexual activity, etc. Use of heavy makeup to hide your complexion may actually make it worse by clooging the pores. Your Family Doctor can treat all but the most severe cases, in which case you might need a Dermatologist.
