Why not use concentrating solar?
Concentrating Solar (CSP) gains economies of scale by being large. That is, CSP plants are typically 100s of MWs in size to be viable. This size of facility is difficult to place near areas with large populations. The land requirements are substantial. However, PV technology allows for smaller scale projects such as the planned facility in Clarke County and will produce power closer to the place where it is consumed. Also, PV solar plants are less intrusive. They can be tucked into 150 acres and shielded with shrubbery and trees, whereas a CSP plant will require a large tower that will likely be visible, may create reflection issues, and will consume water.
