What is a CT Chest with Contrast?
A CT of your chest is a scan that takes particular images of the chest area. You will have an IV started for the contrast injection. The contrast medium makes the images (pictures) of the chest area more visible for the radiologist to view your scan. After the CT, your IV will be taken out and you will be discharged. If you are or suspect you might be pregnant, let your doctor, nurse or technologist know immediately. For three hours before the CT, only clear liquids are allowed. IV contrast will be given. The scan will take about 15 minutes. Wear a shirt with no metal buttons or zipper and remove all necklaces. If You Want More Information.
