Is Aquarius still an air sign?
I’m afraid you have some facts mixed up here. Please allow me to clarify. Capricorn has always been an earth sign, and it has always been ruled by Saturn. This has never changed. Aquarius was traditionally also ruled by Saturn, but always under the air element. People sometimes get confused because the symbol for Aquarius is the water bearer. This has nothing to do with the element, simply that the symbol is of a person holding water. Aquarius’ ruler became Uranus after the discovery of Uranus because astrologers at the time discovered that those qualities fit it better than Saturn’s old rulership. Pluto is the co-ruler of Scorpio, after the discovery of Pluto. Scorpio’s traditional ruler is Mars. Now both Mars and Pluto co-rule Scorpio in modern astrology. Pluto is still considered a planet in astrology, and in most circles it is considered a dwarf planet astronomically. An asteroid it is not. I hope that helps!
I think you are mistaking elements for planets. The disenfranchising of Pluto will only affect the sign of Scorpio. Scorpio used to have Mars as its regent, until Pluto was discovered in the 1930’s… Then Pluto was assigned to Scorpio. Now astrologers debate if Scorpio should keep Pluto as regent (even if it’s an asteroid only) or if it should take Mars back. Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn have always been earth signs; and Gemini, Libra and Aquarius have always been air signs. The water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. There’s also the air fire signs, they are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
