Is Star Trek online any good?
I wouldn’t recommend it as of right now. It doesn’t really bring anything new to the table except that it’s a star trek MMO. Good : Character creation is excellent (typical of Cryptic games). User interface is pretty good. Explosions are satisfying. The ability to buy, trade, and train bridge officers is pretty cool. Bad: The game is prone to random crashes, has poor servers, only offers two factions (for now), the federation and the klingon empire, the klingon faction is only playable for pvp, the lore seems more in reference to events in the series than to immerse you in the star trek universe, the controls for space flight are horrible (you use the ASDW keys to steer your ship), for the most part the graphics are good for 2004, the skill point system is poorly explained, and there are somewhat limited options on how to fly and fight in your ship. I hear that cryptic games tend to be rushed, with fixes, fine tuning, and lots of new content being done in the first year of release. I a
