What is SDH technology?
SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) is an international standard for high-speed telecommunication over optical/electrical networks. The main reasons for developing SDH were to allow equipment from different vendors to communicate with each other, to reduce network complexity and to improve signal quality. SDH provides a simple and flexible network infrastructure compared with alternative technologies. It also enables individual traffic streams (or channels) to be identified and easily extracted.
