How will labs be authorized?

Testing facilities will be authorized in the same way that they have for the past several years. Details can be found in section 8 of the Process Guide. The high-level process is: 1. The candidate test lab runs a series of tests on a CDMA device that has already been certifies and/or characterized by the CCF. The test results are sent to the Subject Matter Expert for his/her review prior to the on-site assessment. This ensures that the test lab has the required equipment and a basic level of knowledge before the SME arrives. 2. The SME does a joint on-site audit with someone from the CCF/CTIA. The SME is checking to make sure that the lab has the technical competence to run the test equipment and to run the CCF test plan. The CCF/CTIA representative makes sure that the test lab is familiar with the CCF Certification process, how to use the Certification Database, how to ensure that they have the latest version of the CCF Test Plan, etc. 3.
