How do I draw good comics?
Look, there is this whole corpus of knowledge about cartooning which is shared between the Japanese and the West. And it’s discouraging to watch some people try to “draw anime” because the Japanese artists are just drawing. The best advice you can get is that Japanese Cartooning is not “manga” or “anime” as most of the kids here in the west talk about it. They don’t exist. Japanese Cartooning is part of a long tradition which includes both the western stuff like Gillray, Asterix, George Herriman Jack Kirby and Windsor McCay and traditional eastern stuff like Ukioyo-e and traditional Buddhist art. So, learn to draw. Also learn to appreciate artists — both westerners like Picasso and easterners like Hokusai and Hiroshige. Obviously I don’t mean don’t draw Manga. I’ve linked to Julie Dillon’s tutorial at How to Draw Manga. I’ve also linked to the Figure drawing Lab at Evansville University which is straight academic drawing and the Fantasy Art Resources Project which is D&D type art. Act
