Why are Americans so reactionary?
Interesting use of reactionary–it’s appropriate. Changes are happening faster now than they ever have before–thanks to technological improvements in communication and transportation. And the rate of change is itself increasing rapidly. People are scared shitless. Things aren’t the same as when they were born–or even the same as when their kids were born. Things don’t work the way they were told that things would always work. I’m not sure that there are more scared-shitless people in America than elsewhere, but the scared-shitless people here are culturally encouraged to be loud.
