It’s neuter! Not all dogs hump things, no. Spay and neuter don’t halt or contribute to this behavior. The dominate dog is prone to mount in behavior that is not sexual…dominate males will mount other males as a show of position and dominance, likewise females to females and even a really dominate female to a male. Don’t concern yourself if your dog isn’t dominate and has no drive to mount others or things. However, do concern yourself with getting him neutered for health considerations and the most well adjusted dog he can be. (Neutering a dog removes all possibility of gender related cancer risks, and in those prone to wander, it saves their lives in taking away that drive to find the potential mate in heat that they can smell up to 10 miles away, which also causes them great frustration.
