At one they are usually more intrested in the wrapping paper then the actual present. There are several differnt ways you could do this. Toy stores are usually laid out according to the age. You could ask its mother (etc) for some advice on what she might like. For a one year old child pull a long, or stand and push (walk behind) toys are usually a good choice. I personally usually give books, but that is because I like books and they can be usefull for several years or more. I value all my books that I was given as a child and the ones my daughter is given, and I like to look inside and remember who gave them to me/ her. (usually worth checkign they don’t have the book if you plan on writing inside) It needed be a “baby book” a nice, well written book that they can be read now but will mean more when their older. I tend to figure that most children get more then enough clothes and toys, especially soft toys but many people dont give books especially to such a young child,.
