Is organic baby food healthier?
The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that organic baby foods are no more nutritious than conventional baby foods. The nutritive make up of the food remains the same. The only difference is the absence of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and antibiotics or growth hormones for animals. Though the USDA maintains that the amount of pesticide residue that remains on the food has not been found to have adverse affects on humans, the studies were simulated with grown men and animals, not children. Famed pediatrician, Dr. Alan Greene, charges that organic baby food is better. He stated that “Children are developing organs to last a lifetime. Due to their smaller, fast-growing speedy metabolisms, and less varied diets, infants and children are more vulnerable to health and developmental damageā¦.. By reducing toxic exposure, organic products can help us raise healthy, strong children.” In addition to Dr. Greene, there is a growing list of pediatricians making their views known by label
