This seemingly innocuous question on Saturday led to a volley of claims and counter-claims between the two major global distribution services (GDS) providers, Amadeus India and Galileo India. No sooner had Galileo India issued a statement saying that it had on Saturday issued the first e-ticket in the country, that its rival cried foul. Amadeus India issued a counter-statement saying that it was the first CRS (Computer Reservation System) provider to issue e-tickets in the country. “E-tickets on British Airways and Lufthansa using Amadeus systems have been issued by four major travel agencies since July 11 this year,” the company said and added that it had been issuing e-tickets through its system user partners such as British Airways and Lufthansa for more than a year in the country. “These services, which were earlier restricted to airline offices, have now been extended to travel agency
