Super Saiyan is when a Saiyan’s anger gets out of controll and their power increases greatly. Normally, a Super Saiyan’s hair turns gold and longer (with the exception of SS4 as it turns black). Considering how it takes a lot of energy to go and sustain Super Saiyan, the higher levels, 3 and 4, can only be kept for a short time. The only way someone can go Super Saiyan of course is if they are a Saiyan (only Goku, Vegita, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Bra could possibly do it).
