Who Is Kenneth Hagin?
Kenneth E. Hagin is considered the “father” of the Word of Faith movement, and though many of his teachings were biblical and orthodox, some were very controversial, while others have been attributed to him by critics that were in-fact not his own doctrines. Three major issues have contributed to the misunderstandings concerning the teachings of Kenneth Hagin: (1) Many of his “sons” in the ministry, such as Leroy Thompson, Kenneth Copeland, and others, took divergent paths that pressed their own doctrines to extremes that were patently unbiblical, and in some cases, heretical. Many falsely attribute those teachings to Hagin as their source, when the fact is that they were distortions of his teachings that pressed those issues beyond biblical bounds. (2) Hagin personally held to a sincere, but unbiblical, policy of not addressing his critics or clarifying his own doctrines.
