Computer to plate is imaging technology used in modern printing processes. In this technology, a file created in a Desktop Publishing application (ie QuarkXpress or InDesign) is output as a PDF to be used directly for a printing plate. This compares with the older technology, where the computer file was output onto a photographic film. This film was then used to make a printing plate.
