How much will the ps3 cost in 2009?

Sony has a lot of plans in the works, two of the components in the PS3 are soon to become far cheaper and this gives Sony leeway to make the console cheaper if they desire to do so. Sony is currently developing a 45nm version of the current 65nm Cell processor, which will be cheaper to produce and in the effort to cut costs further they have contracted an outside producer for said processor. There is also a benefit to the consumer on this end of coarse, 45nm dies are smaller, cooler and require less cooling which means that overall system temperature will be improved and the already improved 100-120Watt power requirements may see a fall of almost 30-40 watts. Also it would seem that several more factories are opening production on the laser diode for the Blu-Ray drive, which is currently one of the most expensive components. It is impossible to predict a price drop in any exact range but assuming all of PS3’s IPs do well this year you could see possibly a 50-100$ price break.
