Is Grape seed extract safe for dogs?
Expert: Roger McLeskey – 7/25/2010 Question I have a 11.5 year old spayed female Siberian Husky, she has a cataract that became noticeable to the vet about 6 months ago, they said it was common for a dog her age and not to worry. We would like to stop the progression of the cataract by using grape seed extract but have heard and read disagreeing opinions on that. We do know that grape seed extract can help in that area as it worked for my wife who had a cataract develop after an eye accident with a bungy cord. She started taking grape seed extract after she heard about it from a naturopath and for over 7 years her cataract has not grown at all and has started to shrink. I do know that a lot of other things could cause or aid this in happening, but we want to help our dog in anyway we can afford, and since we both take it, it would be no problem giving to our dog (I am assuming that human grade supplements are safe for dogs?). We have also found out this week that she has a low thyroid
