Public safety personnel (e.g. fire and police) who are likely to respond to health emergencies or who might be called upon to enforce isolation/quarantine orders for potentially infectious people should be fit tested and should be provided PPE, including N95 respirators when performing such duties. However, because patient care is not the primary responsibility of public safety personnel, it is reasonable to fit test only a portion of such personnel.
