All birdshot patients are first diagnosed with some type of posterior uveitis. 95% of birdshot patients will test positive for HLA A29. A variety of other tests may be ran including a yellow fluorescein angiography and/or Indocyanine green angiography . An ERG to also recommended to create a baseline, and to measure retinal function on an ongoing basis.
