Can mold or mildew cause cancer?
Our bodies recognize mold and mildew as foreign invaders because they are caused by mold and fungus bacteria. Our immune systems attack these foreign invaders and destroy them. Cancer is not generally thought to be a foreign invader. It is our own cells that go wacky and reproduce uncontrollably. It is not likely that any cancer has ever been caused by a mold or mildew. However, you can get skin infections, lung infections, even blood infections from bacteria, fungi, and mold spores.
